Holly Hamilton, PhD
Principal Investigator
Dr. Holly Hamilton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Minnesota and a Staff Psychologist and Clinician Investigator at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and her BA in Psychology and Art History from New York University. She completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in serious mental illness research at the San Francisco VA Health Care System and the University of California, San Francisco, where she was also a faculty member before moving to Minnesota. Dr. Hamilton’s research employs electrophysiological and neuroimaging methods, combined with translational behavioral paradigms and clinical assessment tools, to clarify how disruptions in the basic mechanisms of cognitive function contribute to the etiology and clinical course of schizophrenia and other serious psychopathology, with the goal of guiding effective treatments that improve outcomes. She also examines biological and clinical factors that confer risk for, or resilience against, the onset of psychosis among at-risk individuals in order to inform early detection and intervention strategies. As a licensed psychologist, Dr. Hamilton specializes in cognitive behavioral and recovery-oriented therapies, as well as evidence-based assessment approaches, for psychosis and other serious mental illnesses.
